Cool You UK has recently completed the installation of a water-cooled air conditioning system within Bio By Realhair, a salon within one of The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea conservation areas.
The new salon, based at street level was unsuitable for a conventional air conditioning system because of the conservation area planning restrictions that did not allow the owners to install an outside condenser box within the front or back of the building.
There are many high street shops like our clients where they back onto another shop, with the only external wall being the shop frontage. For retail premises like our clients, the only air conditioning solution available is a water-cooled air conditioning system, where everything is contained within the building and does not require an outside condenser box or any holes drilling through the buildings external walls.
Our Water Cooled Air Conditioning Unit was the only way to air-condition this salon situated in a Conservation Area.
Like many hairdressing salons, there is a large glass shop front and a lot of equipment that generates heat, making the environment uncomfortable for customers and staff.
Cool You were approached by the client who was getting frustrated in their search for an air conditioning solution for their new salon that would be allowed by the planning authorities (as a building within a conservation area, all traditional air conditioning solutions were not permitted).
During the site survey, the Cool You team quickly established that the ideal solution was for a 7kw Water Cooled Air Conditioning system with a High Wall unit. The condenser box was installed in the basement area. This had the benefit of having a power and water supply that was out of sight. The pipework was hidden during the refurbishment/shopfitting process. The wall-mounted unit was installed within the salon area on the ground floor.
As with many commercial shopfitting installations the Cool You UK team worked closely with the client’s contractors to ensure the delivery of an air conditioning solution that met all the client’s specifications.
Describing the project, Julian commented, “ when we were approached by the client, It soon became apparent that our water-cooled air conditioning solution was the only way the client was going to achieve what they wanted.”
