A CASE STUDY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF INTERNAL DC INVERTER WATER COOLED CONDENSERS TO AIR CONDITION CONTEMPORARY APARTMENTS IN THE STRATA BUILDING
This apartment is set in one of London’s architectural icons, the Strata SE1 building. Located within Elephant and Castles regeneration area, it’s the city’s tallest residential building. This apartment building is incredibly energy efficient and sets standards in sustainable living when built. However, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a southern aspect, this particular owner found his apartment very warm, even during the colder winter months.
To alleviate this, the owner wanted air conditioning, but due to restrictions, he was not allowed to fit a traditional external condenser box or make any penetrations to the outside.
For this installation, two water-cooled internal condensers were installed in a storage cupboard beside the washing machine. These served energy-efficient quiet DC inverter high wall units in the open plan kitchen/living room and master bedroom.
Our technical team connected and hid the refrigerant pipework between the condensers and the room units using the ceiling voids. There was no disruption to the existing decor within the apartment, and the installation took less than two days to complete!
No planning permission was required to fit our air conditioning systems.
For this project, we installed:
One 3.5kw and one 5.3kw DC Inverter water cooled condensers
Serving:
Open Plan Kitchen / Living Room: 5.3kw (18,000 Btu) DC Inverter cooling only high wall unit.
Master Bedroom: 3.5kw (12,000 Btu) DC Inverter cooling only high wall unit
