Air conditioning installation as part of a complete building refurbishment
Cool You have installed air conditioning within three duplex apartments in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea as part of a total remodelling of the building.
61 Harrington Gardens is located within the Courtfield Conservation Area. As a historic building, the developers had to find a solution that conformed to planning laws that prevented using standard air conditioning systems with external condenser boxes.
Cool You were approached specifically because our expertise in air conditioning listed buildings and apartments within conservation areas.
Working closely with the client’s architects and contractors, our engineering team specified a combination of air-cooled mono and multi-split internal condensers vented to the outside, one conventional external condenser and a heat recovery system. These are connected to ducted (hidden) room units (using state-of-the-art DC inverter technology), allowing the whole system to be hidden within the building’s structure.
Our design and installation team were able to site the internal condensing units in the lower ground vault and loft space areas and the ducted fan coil units in the ceiling voids.
During the first stage, we routed all refrigerant pipework for closing-in by the contractors. Our team planned the installation in detail to work within the contractor’s schedule. The second stage involved installing ducting from the air-cooled internal condensers to the external wall to link with holes pre-drilled by the main contractor to the required specification.

2 x 5.3kw Air Cooled Mono-Split Internal Condensers for master bedroom and second bedroom serving 2 x 5.3kw Ducted Units
1 x 5.3kw Air Cooled Dual-split Internal
Condenser for third bedroom and multi-media room serving 2 x 2.6kw Ducted Units
1 x Ventaxia Heat Recovery System for media room
Apartment Two
1 x 7kw Air Cooled Dual-Split Internal Condenser for master bedroom and second bedroom serving 1 x 5.3kw and 2.6kw Ducted Units
Apartment Three
1 x Mitsubishi 14kw mini VRF Condenser serving (located on the apartments outside terrace)
1x 7kw ducted room unit, 1 x 3.6kw Ducted Room Unit and 2 x 2.8kw Ducted Room Units
