A CASE STUDY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ONE DC INVERTER WATER COOLED CONDENSER TO AIR CONDITION TWO BEDROOMS IN A CONSERVATION AREA
This mid-nineteenth-century terrace house is situated in the Wandsworth Common Conservation Area, an area known as “Between the Commons”.
The owners wished to air condition two hot top-floor bedrooms, but they were not allowed to fit a traditional external condenser box due to planning restrictions. Also, they were not allowed to drill any holes in the external walls of the building.
The best solution to air condition these bedrooms was our energy-efficient DC inverter water-cooled internal condenser air conditioning system that allows everything to be retained within the property.
A water-cooled condenser was installed in the loft area next to the water tank. This serviced an energy-efficient, quiet, DC inverter concealed ducted unit (also in the loft). This supplied cool air to the two top-floor bedrooms.
Our technical team connected the refrigerant pipework between the condenser and the ducted unit within the loft space at a high level with all items suspended from the roof joists. Each room divided the cold supply air via a custom-made plenum serving air grilles. There was minimal disruption to the existing decor, and the whole system was concealed. No planning permission was required to fit our air conditioning systems in these apartments.
No planning permission was required to fit our entirely internal air conditioning systems in this apartment.
For this project, we installed:
1 x 3.5kw (12,000 Btu) water-cooled DC Inverter condenser
This served:
1 x 3.5kw (12,000 Btu) DC Inverter cooling concealed ducted unit
