Air conditioning in a modern apartment building in Wimbledon
This case study highlights the successful air conditioning installation in a modern apartment building in Wimbledon. Recently, Cool You installed air conditioning in a second apartment at Ashcombe House, a stylish contemporary block in this desirable residential area of London.
Due to the extensive use of glass in contemporary buildings, heat generation often becomes an issue. In this case, the owners needed to air-condition a kitchen/dining area. Consequently, they faced limitations regarding traditional air conditioning solutions. Specifically, they couldn’t fit an external unit or drill holes in the walls. Therefore, they opted for our innovative water-cooled air conditioning system. This system retained everything within the apartment — a practical and creative resolution.
The installation process was smooth and efficient.
The installation process was not only smooth but also efficient. Our team placed the water condenser in the hall utility cupboard, connecting it to the apartment’s water system. Meanwhile, we fitted a quiet 3.8 kW (13,000 BTU) high-wall unit in the kitchen/living area. Thankfully, the proximity of the utility cupboard to the air-conditioned room allowed us to run the pipework through the wall efficiently. As a result, the entire installation was completed in just one working day. This ensured optimal cooling comfort without disrupting the owners’ daily life.
Moreover, no planning permission was required for this water-cooled air conditioning system, which saved time and hassle. This aspect also highlights our system’s potential energy efficiency and cost savings—a promising prospect for apartment owners in London.
For this project we installed:
1 x Water Condenser Unit
1 x 3.8kw (13,0000btu) Internal Water Cooled High Wall Unit
